Andy -
Hope things are going well for you over there! As for the US East Cost, I think keeping the rules stable for a few years would prove to be a big help, at least for us here in Annapolis. We are building five bieker III's and are slowly converting some of the One Design fleet over to I14's. And just build up the US East Cost fleet over all. I have been doing my best to market the I14 in what feels like a one design plague here in Annapolis. Skippers are looking more and more to smaller one design boats like to Melgis 24 for better performance, fewer crew issues and easier travel to away regattas. Every chance I get I try to invite skippers out on my old Mazza III to let them get a feel for the I14 and hopefully catch the I14 bug and buy one. I actually just sold my old boat and I am building one of the five bieker 3's.
Well that is our two cents...for what it is worth.
Best regards, Robert Durrell

<p>We also talked about general rule changes at the UK owners meeting last week.
The current thinking is to keep the class stable for a few years (5?), with some tidying up of the rules. Things like the removal of the buoyancy test and the convex jib leech rules are being talked about.
Then what?
Racks aft of the transom Wider racks moving the rise of floor measurement aft bigger rig double luff sails rotating masts removal of the rise of floor rule weight reduction pre-bent masts
I think we should discuss the pros and cons of these and then try and get an idea of when they should be introduced. We can they make it easier for people to know how long their current boats will last and encourage newcomers to the class which is 'future proof' with a 10 year plan for development.
