Well at least it happened on the way home...

So we unloaded the SF container today.

When I showed up, I hear "Rand, you might want to come look at this..."
Never a good sign!

So I'm looking at the transom of my boat, which is still sitting in its
cradle in the middle of the container on the bottom, and I notice that
the racks don't look exactly like they should.

So we pull it out, taking pictures of the patched holes in the container
(just the right width for a forklift...) and take the cover off.

Do you know what a 14 looks like when you take the rear Port corner of
the rack and press down? Like really hard? Well carbon doesn't bend very
easy... The outside skin didn't seem to break, but the foam delaminated,
and of course the inside skin was toast. The transom is like gone. and
the floor is messed up and delaminated around the mainsheet block... The
Port rack is broken in the middle with the aft part drooping down, the
forward rack on the Starboard side is broken free at the hull, and
cracked back in the middle.

Since the rain was pouring down, we didn't completely unwrap the poor
thing, but for sure I'll put up pictures after the sun comes out.

At least it didn't arrive in Melbourne this way!

Greg Mitchell tells me that the insurance is for replacement cost, so I
guess I'll be getting a new boat. And I hardly had this one for 6 months!

Later!

Rand
