A lovely weekend sailing was had by the Victorian fleet over the weekend

Breeze - 8 -15 knots
Direction - SSW

At SYC we sailed two short courses, in fairly lumpy conditions after the
breeze swung about 25deg south midway through the race and lost strength
to around 12kts.

Water temp still cool probably about 13 - 14 deg Celsius. - should warm
top around 17 - 18 deg c by Jan.

Lex O'Connor (now retired 14 sailor) took some digital photos on the
beach and shall post them to the web site www.worlds.i14.org
<http://www.worlds.i14.org> shortly.

On Sunday morning we mapped out the layout for the boat park and the
following was noted and of interest to competitors;

1. It's going to be a tight fit - but acceptable
2. We have four lanes of access to the water (a beach some 100m
wide)
3. Boats will have allocated spots that must be retained all
regatta
4. You will be unable to lay over boats at your spot - not enough
room - you must move elsewhere to attend to mast adjustments
5. Gear storage around boats will need to be kept to a minimum -
one suit of sails/tool box etc - extra sails should be kept in
containers
6. If windy, sails must be kept down in the boat park - temporary
hoists will be OK to test if properly rigged but they must be dropped
ASAP
7. We will appoint a big bloke as beach Marshall to keep all the
fools in line, keep laneways clear etc
8. Each spot and boat trolley will be tagged and numbered (sail
number) so that we know where each boat trolley lives - this will make
collection and removal of trolley's from the beach far more efficient.
(Thank you SF97 for this idea)
9. Finally, we will need lots of co-operation from the competitors.

Your reward for co-operation - two free cans of Victoria's finest ale on
return from the days play!

Regards,

Steve Edmunds
