Just to publicise the results of my questions/research into fourteening
in the UK this winter, should they be of interest to anyone (or even
encourage someone to join in):
- there are a couple of boats (1398,1311) at Chew Valley. Contact Dom
Bowns (bpf@cix.co.uk) for more info
- there are a couple of penultimates at Highcliffe (which I think is in
Christchurch bay). Sunday morning races. Contact Phil Sowden
(PhilSowden@aol.com) for more info
- and a few boats at Queen Mary - according to David Spragg, possibly
himself, Mike Holmes, Peter Harvey, a couple of penultimates. QM are
charging around #163#55 to keep a boat there for five months over the
winter. Join in club racing or they seem happy to organise our own
starts/mini series if there are enough boats.
Chew and Highcliffe are unfortunately a bit too far for me to hack round
to from Kent for Sunday am races, so I'll probably go to QM
(incidentally, the club seems on the phone to be rather friendlier and
proactive than has perhaps historically been the case!). If Chew or
Highcliffe suit anyone else better, I'm sure the guys there will be
pleased to hear from you.
Hope to see some of you sometime during the winter!
Cheers
Colin Smith
