So let me get this straight...
The oldest International Dinghy class (1928 right?), full of amateur
sailors, most of whom don't have time to make all of their regattas - let
alone pratice, a class that has never had a problem with performance
enhancing drugs (I'll leave alcohol out of the discussion) is going to
test its sailors for drugs?
You mean that I can't eat any of my favorite poppy seed rolls during the
event?
I can't take a nasal decongestant if I have an allergy attack due to some
Australian pollen that I have never encountered before?
While anybody who is stupid enough to take performance enhancing drugs
will have stopped early enough to clean them out of his/her system...
Does this strike anybody as truly bogus?
I mean who runs our class:
1. a bunch of old keelboat sailors in London, or
2. Us?
It seems to me, that the International 14 class should not be subjected
to this kind of treatment, unless we as a class request it. And I as a
class member don't remember ever being asked about my position on this,
nor have I ever been asked to vote on something like this.
I say screw'em, we should all eat poppy seed rolls every day, and fill
the urine cups with beer.
I'm packing up my boat, my family, my crew and heading to a place very
far away, to sail in the first I14 worlds down under. I would expect to
receive the same hospitality that I have received the last five world
championships that I have gone too.
To have the ISAF run over our class is nuts.
Exactly why are we members of the ISAF? so they can force us to pee in a
cup?
Later,
Rand (hopeing that I won't get thrown out of the worlds for refusing to
pee in a cup)
