Greg and all who care:
It is my understanding that we are going to pack the boats this weekend at
Richmond, is this true ?
I did some calculations using my "ICE" as a basic model. I choose this
because it is the largest of the boats going to the worlds.
Assuming a 8 foot width and a 110 inch height in a 40 foot container It
appears that we can place 7 boats in the container. The packaging
arrangement would be two rows of three high boats mounted in their normal
position and one boat mounted on it's side, there's little margin but the
computer say's they will fit. I suggest that we use my boat and dolly as
the side mounted boat. I have designed the dolly to comfortably hold my
boat on it's side, and the Attachments I have allow the dolly and boat to
be stable in this position.
Who is bringing up the lumber to do the construction and is our local
expert Kirt going to be there ? If someone will let me know what is needed
I will bring the material up with me. If not, do you want me to just guess
?
On another matter, I have fixed the mast and made the spreaders, am in the
finishing process now. I was going to assemble the mast but am thinking
now that it may be a better idea to leave it as is as of someone breaks a
mast we would have a blank to work with. I have extended the mast to a
full 26.5 feet ( from the original 23 feet, so it can be cut to what ever
is required. I had to choose my spreader angles. If I get the time I will
make a set of adjustable to bring with us.
