Yes it fills that requirement perfectly. I bought one 3 years ago, and have
never had so much fun! (The first time I raced it against other 14s was at Garda
this year.)
I used to have a serious (100+ sponge) problem with leaking tanks, so I bought a
double acting pump from a yacht chandler at the boat show. (In extreme cases, I
tipped most of the water out of the hatches first.) But I recently cured most of
the leaks by tightening the bolts around the hatch covers, and where necessary
renewing the mastic.

Subject: [I14] Draining a Benidict 4

For some cheap fun I am considering buying a 1989 Ovington Benidict 4 which has
not been sailed for a while and is full of water. As there is no bung in
the transom is the only way of getting water out with a sponge/syphon through
a hatch? Or am I being very stupid.
I intend to use the boat for club handicap racing so anything that does not
leak and fall apart will keep me happy. Is this boat likely to fill this
requirement?
Your assistance is appreciated.
Regards
David Crawford
