What 49ers? Seattle had an active 12 boat fleet. Now you'll occasionally
see ONE out there. To be exact the crews have either disappeared or
moved to Tasars. Note, that's also a one design fleet. In this day and age
maintaining participation is a pretty nice achivement for 14s and any
other dinghy racing fleet.

Ever turned the corner at the top mark with that foil keeping the bow 3
feet in the air? Ever gone downwind gliding over the waves instead of
piledriving through them? How about not crouching at the mast in light
air, no wait that's the crews problem. A better 14 is what I call
a tangible benefit.
