Dear All,

As with all statistics the real story is often well buried, yes we may not
have broken that magical 50 boat barrier this year but. In the past we have
often counted many, many classics and penultimates to reach 50, this year
there was 1 classic and 2 penultimates only. The rest of the fleet were
'pretty state of the art', the old boats being Morrison 8s ( Tony D always
going fast) and early Beiker 2s.

As many found this week, 1 capsize and there weren't many boats behind you,
as the racing is the closest racing I have known in this fleet.( I started
sailing them in the early 80's, now I feel old!)

A final point on POW, next year it could be good to make sure there a number
of classics and penultimates at HISC for everyone to see, just to remind us
how much better and more fun to sail the current boats are. Reach to reach
gybes with a conventional symmetrical kite on a windy day now that's a real
test of seamanship............

It's Fed Week at HISC from 19th-23rd Aug, which is always fun! I'm looking
to do a couple of days maybe thurs/fri any one else going to play, if for no
other reason than it gives a good excuse to go to the Fed Week
disco........... sand dunes........

Adrian
