I don't think that it is inappropriate at all to investigate Investigate NO
to sway form attending Bermuda YES! I consider it inappropriate. The
subject reads "Attending Australian nationals rather than Bermuda worlds"
This means to me to attend The Australian Nationals instead of Bermuda.
other
regatta's to sail in other than the Worlds in Bermuda.

The World Council gave the 2001 World Championships to the Canadian
fleet, to be held in Bermuda. The World Council did not give the Canadian
fleet an exclusive right to hold regattas for a two month period.

At this point just 10 months before the event, if the Canadian Fleet and
the RBYC have not come up with a proposal that has people eager to go,
then it is not Richard's fault, the Australians fault (who hold their
titles every year at that time anyway) nor anybody else's fault.

As those who have arranged shipping etc. to go to a far away event, 10
months is not very far in advance to be making plans (shipping, vacation,
plane flights, place to stay...).

I am all for going to Bermuda and participating in the World
Championships, but since it is not shaping up to be a family event, I can
understand from I totally sympathize with you on this one. I too have a
family and I am very concerned about the cost. However, it is too early to
tell without additional data a personal view, the desire to send one's boat
to a place
that will be a family event.

This is a free and open mailing list for talking about all things 14,
including the Australian titles. If an Canadian Worlds in Bermuda can not
stand up on its own two feet, then it will fall short. There is no way
you can coerce people into going to an event, and cost will be a big
factor in this event. How do you know without additional data?
