Greg,

The 5o5 class rules support Cat. B advertising, in otherwords
logos on sails below a certain reasonable size. One boat at
this years Worlds had larger logos, and they presumably had
to pay money to the event organizer. Guys like Howard Hamlin,
Mike Martin, and Krister Bergstrom (this year's winner), sailed
with the fairly unobnoxious logos that were about four feet long
by one foot high. These logos are also related to sailing sponsers,
not non-sailing related sponsors, which as Alan points out are
much better served on buses and taxis, etc., where the exposure
is about 1000 times greater.

By the way, the 5o5 class is also struggling with getting younger
sailers into the class. There was one team in the top 20 this
year whoses skipper and crew were both younger than 30.

Also, by the way, the Fireball class could not be considered healthy,
as it is virtually non-existant in many countries where it used
to be strong.
